Drake is being sued for $10 million for alleged copyright infringement after using an unauthorized sample of Obrafour’s 2003 remix “”Oye Ohene”” in his 2022 song “”Calling My Name””. The lawsuit calls for damages and an injunction to cease all parties involved in the infringement of Obrafour’s rights under the Copyright Act.

The Independent Music Publishers International Forum (IMPF) indicate that the 3 major labels’ publishing units make up 59.9% of total market share. Sony Music Publishing led at 24.9%, Universal Music Publishing Group with 23.2%, Warner Chappell with 11.8%. Any entities with a market share of 5% or less were considered too large for inclusion in the indie category, leaving Kobalt and BMG out of the list.
