Now adding TikTok style videos? What do you think of this?

Not sure how I feel about this. Maybe if they limit videos to clips of music videos to make it more relevant to their business? Otherwise, I really think they should focus on developing and refining their current platforms – my personal experience with their podcast streaming has been somewhat disappointing.
I do like the idea of their new “Car Thing” though… although it could have been named better. Because I drive an older car without a screen, I’m tempted to purchase and try this out! It would be nice to be able to have more control over my Spotify car sessions separately from my phone (especially when I am using my phone for maps).

The interesting thing is they’re had video incorporated for years, they’ve been testing it out to see what works and get the platform up-to-speed. They can easily open the floodgates for all sorts of content — the latest being video podcasts.
Having multiple types of media is great to keep users within their ecosystem, but first and foremost, Spotify’s interface is based around audio – which is why podcasts work well there… But even Facebook tried original video content and nobody knew where to find it – so the question remains, if they do push more on the video front, how will users react?
Car Thing – that name is growing on me. I feel that the R&D teams putting it together kept saying we’re working on a ‘car thing’ and it just stuck :)
